Arthur Price Despicable Me Collection | Review

Despicable Me is a favourite with all of us in this house. In fact, I’ve been known to watch it when the kids were in bed! There’s just something about Gru and the Minions that is absolutely adorable. You can imagine the excitement between the boys when a set of Arthur Price Despicable Me cutlery and tableware turned up for us to review.

Arthur Price Despicable Me

Arthur Price is a family owned business, currently run by Simon, the fourth generation of the Price family. They’ve been making high-quality cutlery and tableware for more than 100 years, supplying most of the top department stores and the Royal Family. I was expecting good things from them!

The Cutlery Set

Arthur Price Despicable Me

The four piece set contains a knife, fork, dessert spoon and tea spoon, perfectly sized for little hands.  They’re highly polished and the handles feature a picture of one of the Minions along with one of their sayings. The boys have been taking it turns to use them at dinner times, and it’s encouraging them to hold their cutlery properly and practice cutting up. Sadly, after just a few washes (hand wash – no dishwasher in this house!), the design has started to wear off. Whilst we are left with some very good quality cutlery, which will last for years to come, the novelty has literally worn off them now. For a £24.95 price tag, I was a little disappointed in this. (**EDIT – since posting this, Arthur Price have been in touch. The design wearing off is an issue they have recognised and are working to overcome. They very kindly sent us another set out – hopefully, these ones will last longer. I absolutely cannot fault the customer service though!)

The Tableware Set

The set contains a bone china bowl, plate and child-sized mug. The set has now become an item of bribery – they will do anything to be able to use it! I was a bit weary about them using something that was not plastic or 50p and easily replaceable from Ikea, but they take great care with it. It’s been used three times a day at least since we had it, and still looks as good as new. The set is also £24.95, and I think it would make a lovely gift for a Minions fan!
