We’ve had a relatively uneventful week this week, other than putting furniture together and a quick play on the beach one evening. I can’t wait for the lighter nights and the weather to start improving so we can get back to our daily visits to the beach!
Anyway, here are this week’s Little Loves…
Read
I’ve just downloaded Me After You onto my tablet. I have only read a little bit so far, but I love it! We’ve been reading ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Rescue’ at bedtime – again, and again, and again. We have a lighthouse at a beach about 15 minutes down the road so I think they like imagining that the story happens there!
Watched
Very randomly, and slightly morbidly, but I ended up watching a program about ‘Extreme Embalming’ the other day. No idea how I found it, but it was one of those things you end up glued to. It was a bit strange – about funeral parlours in Peurto Rico and New Orleans who embalm people so that they can be a part of their funeral. I’m not sure what I think about that – going to a funeral and seeing the dead person standing there, but whatever floats your boat I guess. It definitely opened my eyes to some new customs.
Made
A bed, a wardrobe and a cake. Ok, well I didn’t technically MAKE the bed and wardrobe, I sort of stood around and watched Graham put them together, occasionally passing him things and making him cups of tea. We bought a high sleeper cabin bed off a Facebook selling site for Harrison, which Graham had to put together without instructions, and then a triple wardrobe from Argos, which took him a long time. However, I can take total credit for the cake, which was my own sort of take on a Bakewell Tart. It was amazing – definitely the best cake I have ever made. I’ll be blogging it soon!
Wore
All my old clothes! Since the end of September when we started to pack to move house, the majority of my clothes have been stored in cardboard boxes. Our previous house had built in wardrobes so when we moved here we didn’t have any. There always seemed to be something else to pay for or buy so I’ve managed with pretty much the same four or five outfits since then. Now I have a lovely wardrobe and can’t wait to wear some of my favourites again. It was a good excuse for a clear out though – there was a black sack full of clothes that I had not missed at all so they are in the car ready to be dropped at the charity shop. I also bought some wellies this week – I was missing out on wave jumping. Sadly, they’re just boring black ones, but they do the job!
Heard
I can’t think of anything specific that I’ve heard this week. I had the music channels on the TV in the bedroom whilst I was sorting the wardrobe out but I can’t really say I paid any attention to it. Nothing obviously stood out to me.
And lastly
I forgot to introduce you to our newest fur baby last week. This is Ellie, our new kitten. We went to the local RSPCA centre on New Years Eve and met her, and immediately fell in love. We picked her up a couple of weeks ago and she has settled right in. It took Daisy, our other cat, up until the other day to get used to her being around but whilst they’re not quite best buddies yet, they’re definitely ok with each other being around. Ellie is a little fruit loop – she’s barmy!
Oh my word Rach – that embalming things sounds horrendous and freaks me out! Chief tea maker and safety officer are just as important to putting furniture together as the building part is! 😉 I can’t believe you’ve only just got wellies when you’re at the beach all the time! Have lots of fun splashing in the sea now! Ellie is such a cutie pie xx
I loved Me Before You when I read it last year. I need to read After You now, but might watch the film first. Your cake looks delicious! Enjoy your weekend xx
Me After You is brilliant, not really what I was expecting at all, but great nonetheless. Your bakewell tart looks amazing, definitely one of my favourites so I’ll keep an eye out for your recipe. How cute is your kitten! Hope you have a good week!
Oh my goodness you’re new kitten is so cute! I wish we had cats but sadly the mister and my youngest girl are allergic. Loving the look of that Bakewell tart cake, I could totally eat some of that right about now! xx
Awww what a cutie! I’d love a kitten but my hub says no. Bet Harrison is loving having a new bed and wardrobe. My boy has a high sleeper and he still loves climbing into it! #littleloves
