I wanted a really simple Halloween themed activity that I could do at the playgroup that I run. Alex, at almost three, is the eldest child there, probably by about a year, so it needed to be something really simple that the children could do with help from their mums and dads. These tissue paper pumpkins were perfect. We also did it at home later in the week with Harrison and Alex.
Because I am rubbish at drawing, I printed off a pumpkin template from Pattern Universe and gave them a tray with bits of cut up orange tissue paper. I also cut up a few bits of green tissue for the stem.
All they needed then was glue, to stick the tissue onto the pumpkin templates. Of course, you don’t have to use tissue paper – older children could perhaps cut up orange and green pictures from old magazines, or you could use normal coloured paper.
It was really popular at playgroup, and the boys did about three each when we tried it at home. Simplicity at it’s very best!
