Karcher Window Vac | Review

I hate cleaning the windows.

Graham hates cleaning the windows.

Does anyone actually like cleaning windows?

Moving to a house where our front window is huge, with three children and two cats sometimes didn’t seem the best idea. It was constantly covered in fingerprints or nose and paw prints. No matter how often we (didn’t!) clean it, it always looked a mess. Even more so now the sun is lower – all I could see were marks.

Then the Kärcher Window Vac (the 10 years anniversary edition) arrived. What a revelation! This little yellow machine, which costs around £50, is worth every single penny.

It doesn’t take long to charge the Li-ion battery – a couple of hours – and with each charge, you can clean 105m². That’s big enough to clean all the windows in most houses! You fill up the spray botätle with water and a cleaning solution – one small sachet is included but it lasts for ages. Then, you attach the microfibre mop head thingy (I have no idea what they are called!). Squirt the solution on the window and wipe.

To dry the windows without leaving those nasty watery streaks that only seem to show up when the sun is shining through, you use the vac. Go up and down, or across, in a consistent manner, until all the water has gone.

Clean, smear free windows!

It does so much more than cleaning windows though – you can clean mirrors, tiles, and spills on worktops and hard floors. If you suffer from condensation, as we did terribly in our old house, it is super for getting rid of the moisture. Because it is cordless, it can be used anywhere – we are going to clean our car windows with it.

It’s one of those little gadgets that I didn’t think we needed, but it’s so useful and made housework just that little bit easier.

The 10 year Window Vac Anniversary Edition is currently retailing for £50.00 on the Kärcher website.
