*AD – Unpaid Review
When I was little – and I’m guessing very little because they are board books – I had a little set of Beatrix Potter books. I still have them now – I’ve read them to all three of the boys multiple times and will be doing it all over again with Elizabeth. They’re beautiful books, and I’ve loved Beatrix Potter ever since. My favourite character is Jemima Puddle-Duck: she’s a bit daft but loves her little brood – something I can definitely relate to!
My second favourite character is Peter Rabbit, and I think when we think of Beatrix Potter, he’s the first character that comes to mind. He’s adorable, cheeky and mischevious – a trait that is pretty common to kids. It is little wonder that Beatrix Potter Gifts by Enesco have some beautiful Peter Rabbit themed changing bags (amongst other gifts and products), and with baby girl due in a matter of weeks, we were sent one out to review.
There are various styles available, and we opted for the backpack. This is because we already have a ‘normal’ changing bag for our hot pink pushchair, but also because when we use the baby carrier for days out and walks on the beach, a backpack is a lot more useful than a bag that slips off your shoulders.
So, a little bit about the bag. It’s made of a really high-quality PU fabric, which means it’s easy to wipe down and keep clean – a necessity for any changing bag. It’s grey, with little Peter Rabbits all over and is adorable. It has backpack straps, as well as two smaller handles for carrying or hanging off the pushchair.
There are pockets galore, which is SO handy in a bag. I’m going to be breastfeeding, so don’t need quite as much space for things like bottles, but there is more than enough room – two pockets on the side for bottles or beakers, a decent-sized pocket on the front, which would be ideal for holding a pack of wipes or a few nappies, a pocket at the back and the main big pocket, which would easily hold everything you need for a full day out with a young baby. Inside there are even more pockets, zipped and elasticated bottle ones. I’m actually planning on using it as the hospital bag for little miss – I reckon we will easily get all the things we need in there!
My only criticism of the bag is that there is no changing mat in there – all of the changing bags I’ve owned in the past have had a fold-up mat in there for when you’re out and about, and this one doesn’t. I think I’ve probably got a spare one lying about, but for the £59.95 price tag, I would have liked to have seen one in there. That aside, it’s a high quality – and beautiful – changing bag that will last all through babyhood and beyond!
