If you want to ensure that everyone is at your wedding who you would like to be and that your wedding is the main focus of the day as you intended, it’s really sensible to check the calendar. Why? So you can ensure that you don’t choose a date that clashes with other major events, lest you be the bride who’s left wondering where everyone has disappeared to when your guest slip out to watch the World Cup or whatever.

3. Invite as early as you can

If you don’t want to be disappointed by no-shows, it’s also a really good idea to send your invites out as soon as you can. Obviously, you need to wait until you have actually secured the venue, but once that’s done, at the very least send out save the date cards, and ideally get those invited drawn up so your guests have plenty of notice.

4. Build some wiggle room into your budget

One of the leading causes of wedding stress and disappointment is money. Many brides and grooms find that they cannot of everything they want to do because they have run out of budget sooner than expected. A good way to prevent this from happening is to build in a 10-20 percent contingency fund right from the get-go. That way you know how much money you have to play with, but you also have a little extra cushion should something cost a bit more than you expected.

5. Don’t bank on losing weight

It’s never a bad thing to try and lose some weight if you need to do so, but so many brides resolve to lose weight for their wedding day only to end up with a dress that does not fit on the big day, so if you are planning to lose a little weight, ensure you choose a dress that can easily be altered, or if you can afford it, buy two options so that, no matter your size, you will look amazing on your wedding day.
