The Clean Bottle Guide: Ensuring Safe Formula Feeding with Proper Bottle Hygiene

Everyone knows how exhausting and difficult weekdays can be for a young mother. Sometimes fatigue makes itself felt, and there is a temptation to skip the thorough washing of baby’s bottles. What are the consequences? How to properly clean children’s dishes? Let’s figure it out together.

Unclean bottles – health problems

Doctors warn that babies’ immune systems up to 6 months are still in formation. And the development of bacteria on the bottle or in the oral cavity can lead to the following:

1. Caries

Are the first teeth coming in, or are there already several? Carefully monitor the cleanliness of bottles and nipples. Caries can occur in a baby’s mouth if he consumes spoiled dairy products and sleeps at night with a bottle. In addition, the organic baby formula, which is cured for a long time at room temperature, is an excellent environment for developing bacterial flora that affects the condition of the teeth.

2. Rotavirus

The pain of every mother is rotavirus infections with many unpleasant symptoms. But it should be understood that dirty hands and poorly washed dishes can cause them.

3. Cronobacter

Another type of unpleasant infection. This bacterium especially likes dry, powdered products like organic baby formula. The disease causes rashes and blood infections and has complex consequences.

So how should you properly clean baby bottles?

But all these consequences can be easily avoided if you follow 7 simple hygiene rules.

1. Wash the bottle immediately after feeding, so it will be ready for the next portion of the formula, preventing the development of lousy microflora.

2. Always wash your hands before picking up the bottle. Most people need to remember this simple but important step. Always treat your hands with an antiseptic on the road or on a walk to prevent the baby from contracting various diseases.

3. Each time, disassemble your child’s bottle into all parts. This is the only way to ensure the proper purity of each of them. Particular attention should be paid to the nipple, whether silicone or latex.

4. It is better to wash under running water. For more excellent cleanliness, holding parts of the bottle under running water is recommended, and not to pour them. You should use cold or warm water because there is also a greater chance of harmful bacteria in hot water.

5. It is recommended to use special detergents for children. They are less aggressive and chemical. Also, use a special brush that will be only for children’s dishes. After that, it is worth rinsing again with running water.

6. Dry all bottle parts separately in a clean, dry place, on a towel, dryer or particular container.

7. Be sure to sterilize all components of bottles at least once a day. This is vital for newborns up to 3 months, whose digestive system is still forming. There are several sterilization options that you can use:

– Manual. It is necessary to immerse the bottle in boiling water for 5 minute;

– Microwave steam sterilizer;

– Dishwasher, provided bottles can be processed in it ;

– Electric sterilizer from the net.

Now that you know how to wash baby formula bottles properly, follow our tips, and your baby will always be healthy and smiling.
