Accesssorising Your Dogs Space In Your Home

Dogs are part of the family – but you don’t need us to tell you that. They share our homes and have a whole host of benefits to our home life; reducing stress, being the best cuddle buddies and giving it their all to keep us entertained.

So, it’s only natural, then, that many of us turn areas of our homes into a special place for our pups to enjoy on their own terms – whether it’s simply a corner of your bedroom where they can play or sleep comfortably in a designer dog bed or a grander idea of creating a room just for them.

Need some ideas on how to create the perfect home environment for your pooch?

Snuffle Blankets

Some dogs just don’t know when to stop eating – we know, we have that problem sometimes, too. However, dogs who scoff their food down at the rate of knots put themselves more at risk of a condition known as Gastric Dilatation Volvulus (GDV) or bloat. This can be fatal in dogs, and it’s up to us as owners to help slow our ravenous pups down when it comes to meal times.

Rather than using dog bowls which, let’s face it, aren’t very attractive to look at – especially if you are feeding your dog in “his” space which is accessible to anyone walking around your home.

Instead, there’s a more visually appealing option known as a snuffle blanket or a snuffle mat. These blankets are made up completely of fleece tassels in which dried food and treats can be scattered through.

This not only makes your dog forage for food and get their brain working rather than snaffling the food in one go, but it is also a less intrusive, more attractive way of feeding your dog in the home. Two birds, one stone as the saying goes!

Dog Sofas

If you’ve ever had a dog before, you’ll already know how well dogs can worm their way into snuggling with you on the sofa – even if you say it’ll never happen, chances are you’ll cave once and that’s it, no going back.

However, depending on the size of your furry friend and how much room you have on your sofa, you may find yourself being pushed off in favour of a dog who seems to stretch out the whole length without a second thought. That’s where the genius idea of dog sofas comes in handy.

Designed with your dog’s comfort in mind, these bespoke sofas provide your dog with an attractive bed for them to lay out on until their heart’s content. They can even be made to mimic your own sofa so that it doesn’t stand out too much from the theme and décor of your room.

There’s no need to go overboard with accessories for your dog. In all honesty, they simply want to eat and then have somewhere to rest up until they need to eat again. They live simple lives, but you can enrich their lives in small ways to make their lives a little more comfortable – and allow us to claim our sofas back!
