Budget Beauty Bits

Budget Beauty Bits | www.parenthoodhighsandlows.com

I’ve never really written about anything beauty related on the blog before. I don’t really know why because I love makeup and creams and all that sort of stuff! Like lots of parents, I don’t have the money to spend on the higher end luxury stuff, but over the years I’ve definitely found some products that I love, which I thought I would share with you.

My favourite budget beauty bits

Alberto Basalm Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve been using this stuff for years and although I’ve tried other brands, I always keep coming back to it. It’s only £1 in Tesco and it makes my hair feel lovely. They all smell lush as well, especially the coconut one!

Treacle Moon Bath and Shower Gel

I’ve always been a big fan of the Treacle Moon brand. It smells lush and although a big bottle of the shower gel is only about £3, it always feels like a much more luxurious and expensive brand. I’ve always stuck to the coconut one, but I had this honeycomb one as a gift and along with the body cream, it’s lush!

Childs Farm Hand Wash and Hand Lotion

I hadn’t heard of this brand until I became an ambassador for them earlier this year. We love all of their products (obviously!), such as their kids body wash and shampoos, but this is by far my favourite. Soap really dries my hands out so we only use hand wash, and this stuff is great. I keep the squirty pump of hand cream on the sink to remind me to moisturise my hands after using it and it has made a huge difference. These bottles are £3.99 each and last ages.

Bepanthum moisturiser

We were sent this as part of a review package, and I have to admit it has not been anywhere near the kids. Instead, I’ve snaffled it for me. It’s usually in my handbag and I use it on my hands and on my legs, which get really dry and itchy sometimes. It’s one of the best day to day moisturisers I’ve ever used and is less than a fiver at Boots.

Seventeen BB Cream

I only discovered BB cream a few months ago, and will never go back to using anything else as a foundation now. It’s not as heavy and looks a lot more natural on my skin. I also love that it has sun protection built in, so protects my skin as well. Being very pale, I’ve always struggled to find the perfect shade, but I think I have with this one – and it was only £6!

Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Mascara

One of my pet hates is clumpy spider leg eyelashes, and unfortunately, most cheaper brands seem to have this effect. I started using this in the summer last year and I love it! It makes my rather stumpy eyelashes look lovely and long, without looking like a dead spider is sitting on my eye. It only seems to take one coat as well, and even after wearing it all day it doesn’t flake off. Even better, it was only £4.99!

  1. I actually thought I was the only person to use that shampoo and conditioner….I love it! I think I have one of every flavour in my bathroom! hehehe

  2. Oh my God, I could have written this post! It has all my favourites on it! I love the Alberto Balsam shampoos. They smell brilliant. I also use Treaclemoon. I have the lemon scented one.

  3. It’s really helpful to get someone else’s opinions on beauty products because there are so many out there and I seem to waste my cash on products that don’t suit me!

  4. We tend to use Alberto Basalm Shampoo and Conditioner too, it works well and is reasonably priced.
