Valentines’s Day already! It’s a bit of a weird one this year as no one can go anywhere to celebrate – and no one can get anyone to babysit for a date night at home! It doesn’t mean it can’t be special though – just requires some more creativity and imagination. It is the last Valentine’s Day before Graham and I get married as well, which feels very odd!
If you need inspiration for the loved one in your life this Valentine’s Day, here are some ideas to get you started.
Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
Thes story behind the Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon is as romantic as they come:
It began when Paul Jones Jr., the brand’s founder, became smitten by the beauty of a Southern belle. He sent a proposal to her, and she replied that if her answer were “Yes”, she would wear a corsage of four roses on her gown to an upcoming ball – which she duly did.
And today, roses feature heavily on the bourbon – from the cut glass rose in the centre of the label, to the bottle resembling the shape of a rosebud when held upside down!
It also tastse bloody good, with a dash of cola or over ice – believe me, we have tried it!

Mermaid Pink Gin
Mermaid Pink Gin infuses the flavour of fresh Isle of Wight strawberries with the smooth yet complex taste of Mermaid Gin, a blend of lemon zest, grains of paradise and fragrant rock samphire. The latter, foraged from the island’s cliffs, is known locally as ‘Mermaid’s Kiss’, hence the gin’s name!
Now, I was worried about trying this because I generally find pink gin a little too sweet, but this is absolutely perfect. There’s no added sugar, and it is very, very drinkable! I also really love the bottle – it’s very Instagrammable!
Buy it: John Lewis £38
Cranes Cranberry and Blood Orange Liqueur
