If you are a non-meat eater, you might want to click away now because this is all about the Massingberd-Mundy Lincoln Red Steak Delivery Boxes from the South Ormsby Estate – which is the only steak I think I ever want to eat again!

I never really ‘got’ steak before we tried these steak delivery boxes. I just couldn’t see the appeal of it. Every time Graham has cooked it or I’ve ordered it at a restaurant, I’ve come away feeling more than a little disappointed because it’s always just been a big, slightly chewy piece of meat. I thought it was just me not liking it generally, but it turns out I do like steak. I love it – if it’s from Massingberd-Mundy Lincoln Red Steak Delivery boxes!

Excuse my terrible photo- food photography has never been my forte and November evenings are not exactly ideal for photos!

At the risk of sounding like a cliche, it just completely melts in the mouth. Not being a steak aficionado, I can’t tell you the difference between the different cuts but they all tasted bloody amazing. In the box we received, which costs £79.99, we had the following:

  • 4 x 8oz sirloin steaks
  • 2 x 8oz fillet steaks
  • 2x 8oz rump steaks
  • 2 x 10oz rib-eye steaks

For the quality of the steak, and the fact that it is conveniently delivered to your front door, I think £79.99 is amazing value, and we have already decided that after Christmas we will get another box to pop in the freezer to have on nights where we just want something really delicious and a bit special to eat.

So where do these delicious steak delivery boxes come from?

These steak delivery boxes are sold from the South Ormsby Estate in the Lincolnshire Wolds, who is helping one of the UK’s oldest breeds of cattle – the Massingberd-Munday Lincoln Red Beef – to recover in numbers through ethical farming practices. For the first time, they’re selling select cuts of their delicious beef online to create a more sustainable future for the herd. That’s pretty cool, right? The cows, which date back to the 18th century and can be traced back to the Vikings, are the rarest form of Lincoln Red cattle- there are thought to be just five hundred remaining today and they’re listed on the UK Breeds at Risk list. By sustainably farming the herd and selling a very limited quantity of their meat, the team is helping these rare cattle to come back from the brink of extinction.

The ordering process is simple. Choose from one of the three boxes and a delivery date that suits you – oh yes, did I mention that delivery is free as well? – and then it comes straight to your door. They come packed carefully into a box filled with prototype wool packaging which is reusable and biodegradable. I did have an unboxing video (along with all of my photos!) to show you but typically, I hadn’t backed it up before my old laptop went kaput on me, so you will have to take my word for how great it is – or even better, try them yourselves! You can pop the steaks in the freezer for later, or if you can’t wait, pop the vacuum-packed steaks in some warm water for a few minutes until they’re fully defrosted.

If you want to try out these steaks for yourself, pop along to the South Ormbsy Estate website
