I actually quite like doing the washing. I mean, I’m clearly not talking about the ironing or the putting away of said washing, because I’m not quite that weird, but the actual putting it in the machine and drying it and sniffing it (when it’s clean, I don’t sniff dirty washing, obvs!) is something I don’t mind doing. It’s a good job really – with six of us at home, we have a lot of washing.

I’m no Mrs. Hinch (understatement of the year right there!), so my laundry routine, if that’s what you want to call it, is relatively simple. I don’t faff about too much – I only separate into whites, coloured and then a separate load for towels and bed stuff. I lob in a dose of supermarket own-brand washing liquid and fabric conditioner, and the white stuff gets a scoop of whitening powder stuff. That’s about as complicated as it gets for me.

However, a few weeks ago I finally caved in and packed away the maxi dresses and shorts, and dug out the jumpers and coats. I actually quite like my winter wardrobe – I have a gorgeous pink fluffy jumper that I can’t wait to start wearing again! The problem is after nine months or so in a box at the bottom of the wardrobe, it all needs a bit of a refresh – they seem to take on that sort of fusty smell and look a bit sad and unloved. That’s where Ace for Colours comes in.

What do I love about Ace for Colours?

Well, first of all, it’s eco-friendly, and I’m all about that. It’s in a recyclable cardboard box and you just tip the powder into the drawer of the washing machine. Job done. It’s safe to use on whites as well – so I can simplify my washing routine even more and keep the whites looking all sparkly. It gets rid of any stains and odours – now, I don’t know if I have ever mentioned it before, but Graham works in a cheese factory and literally smells like a block of cheese sometimes. This stuff is great for getting rid of that pong and is great for the many poo explosions I seem to be dealing with at the moment. The main thing I love about it is that it keeps colours looking clean and vibrant – all my winter clothes have come out of the wash looking almost as good as new and smell lovely and fresh, ready to wear when the temperature drops. The couple of quid it costs is a huge saving on a whole new winter wardrobe!
