Graham and I have been together for fourteen years now and engaged for eight, but still haven’t got round to getting married. I’m having lots of fun being a bridesmaid at the moment – both of my brothers are getting married in the next few months and I am a bridesmaid for both of them.
One day though, Graham and I will get married, and whilst we will be having a very small, informal wedding, we will still want to make sure all of the people in our wedding party are recognised. Bridesmaids and groomsmen have huge roles to play in making sure a wedding goes smoothly and for that reason, we will buy ours a little gift to say thank you.
What do you get them though? What sort of gift really sums your gratitude for their role in making sure one of the most important and special days in your life goes to plan? Uncommon Goods are a small, yet growing company who specialise in providing gifts and original designs by independent makers. I love this idea because you know you are giving a gift that really means something and is helping someone out. The products have to meet five really important guidelines to protect the designers and makers and make sure they are not having a negative impact on the environment.
I’ve been mooching on their (rather lovely!) website to see what, if and when we get married, we would buy our wedding party.
I plan on having my two sister-in-laws as bridesmaids, and one of the gifts I would love to get for them includes this beautiful dandelion necklace. Dandelions have a really special meaning to me, and I would love to share this with my beautiful bridesmaids!
Graham would probably choose my brothers to be his groomsmen, and I know he would want something a bit quirky for them. Both of my brothers are into their craft beers and are both very much into styling their hair – or what little they have left of it anyway! This craft beer shampoo and conditioner would make an excellent gift for them!
Of course, we won’t be the only one’s doing the buying. When you get married, everyone asks you what you want. Many people create a personalised wedding list for their guests to choose from, but we won’t be doing that. We’ve been living together for 6 years – we have most things we need. However, I would love one of these beautiful wedding guest book platters – it’s a bit different to the usual guest book and something you could have on display forever!
Go and have a mooch on the Uncommon Goods website – what would you choose for your wedding party?
