2017: A Year in Photos

I love taking photos. Even more so now we live in such a beautiful place and I have a decent camera. At this time of year particularly, I love to look back at the photos from the year and think about what we have got up to and plan adventures for the next year. The photos I’ve chosen for a 2017 round-up aren’t always the best photos from that month in terms of photography skills but are the photos that evoke good memories. Armed with my new camera, 2018 is the year that I’m going to really learn photography skills, and I think I’m going to try and do some sort of photo a day challenge so that this time next year, I can look back and see the progression.

So, for my very final post for 2017, here are my favourite photos.

Happy New Year!

January

Whatever the weather, we love going to the beach, usually armed with diggers and trucks!

February

Short days mean early sunsets – perfect for a winter walk on the beach!

March

The first picnic of 2017 on Llandudno West Shore beach. It was remarkably warm, and we even managed a paddle in the sea.

April

A warm Easter meant sandcastles on the beach in pants (the kids, not us!). We had our first water fight on Llanfairfechan beach.

May

The May Bank Holiday saw my parents, brother and sister-in-law come up to Wales for the weekend. Kim was heavily pregnant at the time, and we headed to Talacre beach to scatter the ashes of Freddie and Kai. It was a bittersweet day! I also love this photo despite it being very unflattering because I can see how much weight I have lost since then!

June

June was a pretty tough month, but this photo reminds me how lucky we are to live where we do. Ben wouldn’t go to sleep, so I took him down to the beach in his nappy for a play in the sand and watched the sunset right in front of us over the sea.

July

We headed up to the top of the Great Orme on a really beautiful day to watch the sunset (there seems to be a sunset theme so far!). I love this photo of the boys in their PJ’s so much that I had it put on to a canvas.

August

My family came up on the August Bank Holiday, complete with my beautiful newborn nephew, Freddie. We headed to Rhyl to watch the annual Air Show – the weather was absolutely spot on and the Red Arrows were spectacular!

September

We managed to get loads crammed into September but going to Llandudno to watch the Goldwings Light Parade was one of the highlights. It was brilliant!

October

October saw us celebrate my brother and his long-term girlfriend getting married. I was really honoured to be a bridesmaid and the day was truly magical. I didn’t actually take many photos but the official ones are out of this world!

November

In November, we went to a local adventure park with some friends and their children for some really muddy fun. It’s only two minutes down the road but we’d not been before – I think we will be there a lot over 2018!

December

I just love Harrison’s face in this, and it sums up Christmas and the whole of 2017!

Happy New Year!!
