This Is How To Revamp Your Room’s Style

Bored to death with a dated and worn looking interior? Then you are in the right place because below you will find our simple guide on how to revamp any room in your home. Keep reading to find out more.

Step 1: Assess its current strengths and weaknesses

Before you begin looking at the new things you will add to a room, you need to take a long, hard look at what is already there. It’s a good idea to divide these items into things you love and things you don’t or strengths and weaknesses in style terms. Then you can use this information to help you decide what to keep and what to get rid of, as well as what features to highlight and which to hide.

Step 2: Define a new direction in 3 words

Once you have completed your strengths and weaknesses, it’s time to start thinking about the new style direction you would like your room to go in. To help you with this, it can be very useful to come up with 3-5 words that would best describe your new space.

These should be adjectives so they help describe the space as accurately as possible. You can use colours, textures, feelings, and more to create a design foundation for your new room.

Step 3: Research references and put together a mood board

After you have your 3-5 words summing up the style of your new room, you’ll want to go online and do some research. One way of doing this is to create a mood board on an app like Pinterest, as this will allow you to collate all your ideas in one place and display them visually.

You’ll also want to research the types of decor and furniture that are available to you. One way to do this is to search for the term furniture shop near me or ask around as to whether anyone you know can recommend a local shop that specialises in stylish interiors. You can also go online and look at furniture and decor items, although you will need to remember to look carefully at the dimensions of the pieces to make sure they fit in your room.

Step 4: Finalise your design

Next, once you have done thorough research, it’s time to finalise your design and buy the pieces you need for your revamped room. Be sure to complete the wall decoration, such as painting or papering, before you have your new furniture pieces delivered, as this will prevent them from being damaged in the decorating process.

Step 5: Add the finishing touches

Sometimes, it’s the smallest changes and details that make the biggest difference to the style and feel of a room. This is something you’ll need to remember when revamping a room in your home.

Indeed, it’s best to go back to your mood board at this stage and identify some small touches that you can complete in your room to truly finish it off. Think cushions, flowers, throws, art and ornaments here; just be sure that they match the vibe you are aiming for and don’t push you over budget.
