Child Proofing Your Floors

Welcoming children into your lives and your homes is one of the best decisions you can make. It’s very important to make sure that your home is ready to protect your children in their early days. The floor is surprisingly one of the most important areas to ensure you have protected, and our guide is going to take you through the best options available for you.

From crawling to taking their very first steps, the floor is the place where it all happens for your children in their early days. Your floor can also be subject to scratches and surface marks from basic things like pushchairs and toys, so it’s key to fit flooring that is durable and won’t damage easily.

One of the best options available is Luxury Vinyl Tiles, a solid and durable alternative to hardwood, and ideal for homes with children. It has superb water resistant qualities, we’d never claim it’s waterproof but it certainly repels water well. Surface damage is also incredibly limited, so scratching won’t always show. It’s incredibly easy to clean and maintain and comes in a wide range of different designs, shades, and colours.

Another excellent option and one of the cheapest available on the market is laminate flooring. It’s an incredibly durable material due to its tough outer layer and comes with the incredibly easy click-loc installation system which is very simple to do yourself. The most popular flooring, but one of the more expensive options is hardwood. Usually coming as either solid or engineered, they are the toughest option on the market with superb durability and are certainly a long-term option.

You can also invest in a carpet or rug, it’s one of the best ways to ensure your kids have a soft landing if they fall, and also protects the floor at the same time. We would recommend vinyl tiles as the best option, they have mostly only positives. They are both stylish, but also very sturdy and their water resistance and durability makes them ideal. We hope our guide has helped you to make a decision!
