Shuffle Your Music – What’s On Your Playlist?

I don’t listen to music as often as I would like to these days. When I’m at home alone, I rarely put the TV on and tend to stick Spotify on through my laptop or our soundbar. The problem is I’m not home alone very often (like, never!) so until Benjamin goes to school, I’m listening to music mainly in the car.

Whenever we go out, I tend to stick my Spotify on because most of the music on the radio is pure and utter shite. Some, like that tripe from Drake about only loving his bed and his mom and that Chris Brown Freaky Friday bollocks actually hurt my ears.

Anyway, I was tagged by My Boys Club to put on my playlist (I only have one, with about 350 tracks on), put it on shuffle and write about the first fifteen songs that came on. I thought it could end up quite interesting – I have a really wide taste in music, which the songs below show!

#ShuffleTheMusic

The rules are very simple
  1. Thank the person who nominated you for this tag and link to their blog.
  2. Shuffle your entire music library or a very large playlist (no matter how old songs the songs are)
  3. Talk about the FIRST FIFTEEN songs that come up (anything like why they are there, if they signify something, any story, why you like them, etc.)
  4. Mention the songs as well as the artists.
  5. Tag about 7 people and please let them know

    1. One Kiss – Dua Lipa and Calvin Harris

Quite fitting that this is the first track that came on because it is one of my favourites at the moment. I’ve always been a huge Calvin Harris fan, and I really like most of Dua Lipa’s stuff, so this was always going to be a winner for me. It’s one of those tracks that makes me want to put on a pair of heels and go out!

     2. Rise – Jonas Blue ft Jack and Jack

I’m a big fan of Jonas Blue – I don’t think there has been a song by him that I haven’t loved so far but this is my favourite and is on repeat at the moment! Also helps that he, and the two dudes featured on this track, are pretty damn cute as well.

     3. Children – Robert Miles

I’m so glad this one appeared in the first fifteen – I’d say it’s probably my favourite piece of music ever.  When I want to feel rared up and energised, this works. When I want to feel chilled out and relaxed, it also works. It sounds amazing in the car in the summer. My three mini-ravers also love this one!

     4. I Fall Apart – Post Malone

I really like Post Malone at the moment. I’m not really a fan of modern rap/hip hop – I much prefer the older stuff, but Post Malone is pretty awesome. I love this one and his voice sounds amazing in it.

     5. Never Gonna Give You Up – Rick Astley

Oh, there I was doing SO well, avoiding the cheese (of which there is rather a lot of!) in my playlist and then Rick appears.  There’s no real cool way of explaining this one other that I love Rick Astley. Yes. I really did just say that. He has the moves!

6Unbreak My Heart – Toni Braxton

This is the dance remix to the song, although I’m pretty sure the original ballad version is somewhere in my playlist. I just think it’s a great song, and her voice is so powerful!

    7. Gimme the Light – Sean Paul

I love Sean Paul, especially his older stuff. It reminds me of my clubbing days!

8. I Want You Back – Bananarama

My name is Rachel and I like cheesy 80’s pop music! Even though I wasn’t even 2 when this song was originally released, I love it, along with most Bananarama tunes. 80’s girl power!

     9. I’ll Be There – Jess Glynne

I love Jess Glynne’s voice, and this song is great. Don’t even get me started on her beautiful hair!

10. Somebody Else – The 1975

The 1975 are quite new to me. I heard them for the first time a couple of years ago on the Brit Awards (I think!) and quite liked them, and then promptly forgot all about them until I saw it come up in a suggested list or something on Spotify. I haven’t listened to many of their tracks yet, but I really like this one.

11. Together In Electric Dreams – Philip Oakley

This is a slightly strange one for me to have on a playlist. As much as I love 80’s music, I really don’t like the electro-pop stuff that was from that era – except for this one. I love this one!

12. This Is Me – The Greatest Showman

We are probably the last people to watch The Greatest Showman (this weekend’s plan is a Greatest Showman movie night),  but I love, love, LOVE this song. It gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it. The boys love it as well, and we have a big sing along to it every evening on the way home from school. They’re really excited about watching the film as well.

13. Human – Rag ‘n’ Bone Man

I want to marry Rag ‘n’ Bone Man. I want him to sing to me every night before I go to sleep because his voice is FIT!

14. Fix You – Coldplay

Three or four years ago, if you had asked me if any Coldplay track would appear on my playlist, I would have laughed at you. I didn’t just not like them, I actually hated them. I have no idea why, and what changed my mind, but I bloody love them now. I am desperate to see them live at some point. This is another one of those songs that gives me the shivers.

16. Go Your Own Way – Fleetwood Mac

Finishing it off with an old one but a good one. This is way, way before I was born but I love Fleetwood Mac!e of a

I’m now tagging Louise at Birds and Lilies, Simon and Charlotte at Whisky and Milkshakes, Dawn at No Bad Choices, Kim at Life Of An Auntie And Mum, Charlotte at Cups of Charlotte, Louise at My Three and Me, Rachael at Lukeosaurus and Me, Elizabeth at Where Roots and Wings Entwine and Michelle at Adventures of A Yorkshire Mum to shuffle their playlists!

  1. I love your playlist and can’t wait to share mine soon – I think we will have a similar list as there are songs in your list that are definitely in my collection somewhere x
