I’ve written loads on the blog about living in a rented house and how, even though we have decent landlords, we are pretty restricted to what we can do to the house to really make it our own. It sucks, but hey, that’s one of the perils of not owning your own home.
I don’t mind so much in most of the rooms. I like neutral, clean walls and floor, with minimum pattern and decoration. We add colour and interest with curtains, rugs, cushions and lights, but it’s the kid’s rooms that sometimes make feel a little bit sad. They don’t want plain magnolia walls. They want big, bright and funky designs, and I don’t blame them.
This where wall murals come in. They’re perfect for when you don’t want to, or can’t redecorate a whole room, or when you want to give somewhere a bit of a refresh and a new lease of life. There’s little prep needed and no mess – when you’re like me and Graham, and can’t paint a wall without covering the carpet and yourself in paint, that’s always a bonus.
I adore the ‘peel and stick’ wall murals from Wallsauce. Like wallpaper, you can have them covering the entire wall, but they simply peel off when you want to change the design, or if you are moving out. There’s a massive range of designs, and if you’re feeling particularly fancy, you can upload one of your own photos to have printed out on the mural. There really is no end to the designs you can have.
I know my three superhero loving boys would love this in their bedrooms. Graham and I would love it because it is easy to put up, and our landlords and letting agents would love it because it’s easy to come down.
A winner all round!
