Autumn is well and truly here, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t still enjoy being outdoors in our garden. We spend a lot of time out there, especially in the evenings, enjoying a coffee and talking about our day. There’s one little spot, under the trees (that need a good trim!) where you can watch the sunset and if it’s really quiet, or the sea is rough, you can hear the waves. It’s really quite lovely, but unless we take our patio chairs through to there, we can’t make the most of it.
So, when Sloane and Son’s got in touch and asked us if we wanted one of their beautiful garden benches to review, we knew we had the perfect spot for one. We chose a Balmoral Teak Garden Bench. We loved the traditional look of it.
It came flat packed so I left Graham to it. He’s put together plenty of Ikea bits and pieces before, but this was a big, solid bench, and I assumed it was going to be tricky to put together. It couldn’t have been more simple. The instructions were clear and easy enough for even me to understand but Graham, being Graham, put them to one side and cracked on with it. It took him under 15 minutes to put it together with minimal tools. I was a little dubious to whether a few dowels and screws would hold such solid wood together, but I needn’t have worried – it’s really strong. I was also surprised how big it is – it would comfortably hold three adults.
It looks absolutely beautiful and there is no doubt that this is an incredibly high-quality piece of garden furniture that will last many years. In fact, as the teak matures and ages, it will look even better, and all we will do is give it a rub down with some teak oil every so often. At £349 in the sale, it’s not cheap, but it’s a real investment for your garden.
What we also love about the Balmoral Teak garden bench, and all of the other teak benches on the site is that the wood comes from a Trees 4 Trees factory. They come with a unique card and reference number so you can go online and trace your bench all the way back to the sustainable forest the wood was harvested from. It’s lovely knowing that not only is your product ecologically friendly, but being able to see it’s journey from a tree to a beautiful piece of furniture.
I can see this bench being a massive part of who we are now – a family that enjoys being outdoors, whatever the weather, and spending time together.
