50 Shades Darker, Santana and Blogging Breaks #LittleLoves

Hello! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve had chance to join in and looking at the calendar for the next couple of weeks, it will probably be the summer holidays before I get chance to again. The past couple of weeks we have had meet the new teachers day, sports days, performances – and we still have birthday parties, school trips and a new baby niece or nephew to be born. The next few weeks are going to be insane!

Read

Not a great deal again (ok – absolutely nothing at all) but Harrison has been reading like a superstar at home and at school and reached his level 6 reading target, which we were super proud of!

Watched

I gave in and downloaded 50 Shades Darker (don’t judge me – I like the books!). It was ok – not as good as the first film and not as good as the books but Jamie Dornan makes it worth watching! I also watched Bridget Jones Baby on the weekend which was absolutely brilliant.

Heard

I’d heard a song on the radio, which turned out to be one by Rihanna, that featured samples from Santana’s ‘Maria Maria’. I loved that song when it first came out, so of course I was straight onto Spotify to add it to my playlist. It’s even better than I remembered. I really love Spanish music and anything with that sort of sound to it.

Wore

The weather caught me out a bit this week – I wasn’t expecting it to be so warm! I plucked up the courage to wear my new maxi dress from JD Williams. I loved it when I ordered it but I was worried it was a bit too bright on me. Turns out I shouldn’t have worried – lots of people said how nice it was! There will be a full review on the dress and the other bits I have from JD Williams on the blog this weekend.

Made

Um…erm…well I talked about making flapjacks next week. Does that count? Probably not!

Lastly

I took a bit of a break from blogging and social media last week, and my god, it was needed. I hadn’t realised just how much it had taken over my life, and I felt like I spent all evening, every evening in front of my laptop. I can’t remember the last time I truly relaxed without feeling guilty about work piling up. I’ve spent a lot more time with Graham in the evenings, which has done us the world of good. I’m trying to find a way of reorganising myself so that I have a better work/life balance. At the moment I’m playing catch up, so I’m posting almost every day still but over the summer, I think I’m going to stick to a schedule where I post 3 times a week.

How was your week?

  1. Absolutely loving your new maxi dress – the print is perfect for summer and it is very flattering 🙂 #LittleLoves

  2. The new maxi dress looks lovely & summer-y. I think finding a balance with blogging is so important; it is only a hobby for me but I can understand how when it turns into work it can be pretty all consuming. A schedule sounds like a good idea. Happy weekend!

  3. Oh it ‘s great to take a step back and just live in the moment away from the laptop. My problem is my desk is right next to the tv in the living room it’s so tempting to just hop on for a few minutes two hours later realizing I had been working longer than just checking my emails and it’s bedtime. OOPs. I need to do this more. Love the dress pattern too so bright for summer. Hope you are having a great weekend. #littleloves

  4. Your new dress is gorgeous, I love the colour and the print!
Trying to find the balance with blogging is so tricky isn’t it? As my blog forms part of my ‘job’ I try and keep it in work hours and not do any in the evening. I know that’s not possible for lots of people though, I guess it’s all about finding what works for you.
Hope you’re having a good week this week xx
